Over the past year and a half, we’ve learned to live in very different circumstances than what we were used to. Gatherings turned virtual, local retailers revamped their business models to stay afloat, and a record number of Canadians found new ways to transact online using Interac products.
As we begin to see the light at the end of the pandemic, Interac is proud to be partnering with Metro Grocery this summer to bring communities together by hosting more than 20 free retro drive-in movie experiences across Ontario. The Metro Retro Drive-In encourages Canadians to reconnect and get more out of life by creating memorable experiences.
The Metro Retro Drive-In, presented by Interac, is a great way to reconnect with your community and features retro films (including Karate Kid, obviously), free movie snacks, an Instagram-worthy photo installation, and local vendors for you to treat yourself. Events are free, but attendees have the option of donating onsite using Interac Debit contactless payments, with all proceeds supporting local charities and food banks.
Supporting small businesses
Interac is committed to supporting small business recovery by encouraging Canadians to #supportlocal and working with industry partners to ensure they have the tools and means to succeed. At each local Drive-In, we’re hosting an InLife Marketplace where small businesses in these communities can showcase their products and services. This is an opportunity to treat yourself while also supporting small business recovery.
To date, some of the small businesses featured include a mother and daughter duo who launched their business during the pandemic, local farmers selling their fresh fruit and vegetables, and a skincare connoisseur that turned a hobby into a career. Show some love for local and join us in supporting these wonderful community businesses by visiting the digital InLife Marketplace.
Our commitment to community investment
COVID-19 has starkly highlighted the importance of community, togetherness and standing up for one another – all principles Interac proudly champions. In times uncharacteristically more challenging than we’re accustomed to, we’re committed and doing our part to build a better future for all Canadians. This includes focusing our community-giving efforts on organizations supporting vulnerable groups, encouraging our employees to celebrate and be engaged in programming, and setting measurable goals for our CSR and D&I efforts.
Join us at a Metro Retro Drive-In in your community and stay tuned for more information on how we’re supporting local.
