As an integral part of Canada’s digital economy, building and maintaining the trust of all Canadians is a key priority for our business, one that we are proud to maintain.
We are honoured to share that Canadians’ trust in the Interac brand remains strong. For the fourth consecutive year, Interac Corp. has been recognized as one of the most trusted brands in 2019. The Gustavson Brand Trust Index (GBTI), presented by the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business at the University of Victoria, has found Interac to be the #1 trusted financial services brand, and one of the top 10 most trusted brands overall.
The GBTI measures different dimensions of trust that influence whether consumers recommend a brand to their networks:
- Consumer perceptions on the brand’s social responsibility
- Functional trust: consumer perceptions on how well the brand performs or functions
- Relationship trust: consumer perception on how the brand interacts with its consumers and word of mouth.
Additionally, Interac Corp. was included in The Globe and Mail ranking of the Top 50 most reputable companies in Canada, 2019. For the fifth year, the Boston-based Reputation Institute conducted the worldwide RepTrak study in Canada, the largest study of its kind.
For 35 years, Canadians have trusted the secure Interac network to make purchases and move money digitally and securely. Interac products are chosen 16 million times daily across our network of nearly 300 financial institutions. In 2018 alone, Canadians completed over 6 billion transactions totalling $350 billion in value. We also work hard to make sure we are keeping Canadians information safe. By investing in world-class fraud prevention, we protect Canadian’s information and money: in 2018 alone we took down 4,300 malicious websites and prevented $78 million in fraud losses.
Trust in general plays an essential role in Canadian society. Whether it’s trust between friends or family members, trust in our government or systems, or trust in our day-to-day purchases, we rely on trust every day to make decisions. In the digital age, trust matters more than ever. That’s why protecting Canadians’ information, while empowering consumers and businesses to make informed decisions, is a top priority at Interac.
