Millions of shared moments with Interac <\/em>e-Transfer<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\nAround three-quarters of Canadians (74 per cent) want to spend more time having fun experiences with friends and family as we start to emerge from COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, according to our survey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A year of milestones: One billion Interac <\/em>e-Transfer payments <\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n\n\nSharing moments and milestones often means sharing the costs of experiences with family and friends. Canadians reached a new milestone for sharing money person-to-person in the month of April 2022, when they reached a billion Interac<\/em> e-Transfer transactions in a 12-month period for the first time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n![\"[Animated](\"https:\/\/stage.interac.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Interac_billion_money_transfer_gif.gif\")
<\/figure>\n\n\n\nOne billion is an exciting number. But what\u2019s even more exciting? Many Interac <\/em>e-Transfer payments help connect two or more people over a shared experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\nMany Canadians have used Interac<\/em> e-Transfer in their lives as they make the most of opportunities to get together with friends, family and other people they want to spend time with. More than half (56 per cent) use Interac<\/em> e-Transfer to split the cost of shared experiences with family and friends at least once a month.<\/p>\n\n\n\nThat means somewhere in those billion transactions were countless moments of connection between people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Younger Canadians are making up for lost time <\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n\n\nThose moments of connection are more precious than ever. Seven out of 10 Generation Z adults <\/ins>told us they missed out on shared experiences during the first two years of the pandemic. Now they\u2019re eager to make up for lost time, and nearly two thirds (65 per cent) said it\u2019s those shared activities that will help them make new memories.<\/p>\n\n\n\nGen Z respondents were also especially eager to spend on experiences, with 55 per cent saying that\u2019s their priority over material goods (versus just 21 per cent of Silent Generation adults).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
How money transfers help you stay in control of your budget <\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n\n\nMany Canadians consider Interac <\/em>e-Transfer to be useful for paying someone back. For that reason, people often use Interac <\/em>e-Transfer for everyday money transfers. For example, you can use it to <\/a>split the rent with roommates<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\nAnd as Canadians get excited to see more of each other again, many of them will be using Interac <\/em>e-Transfer to <\/a>divide the cost of special times and memorable moments with friends<\/a>, too. It\u2019s especially easy when you have the Autodeposit feature enabled<\/a>, because it does away with the need for security questions and answers.<\/p>\n\n\n\nYounger Canadians appear to be the most eager to divvy up the cost of an experience. Two-thirds (67 per cent) say sharing costs with friends and family allows them to get more out of life while staying on budget.
