Wildfires are currently active in several regions across Canada, including Northwestern Ontario, the Prairies, and parts of British Columbia. These wildfires are not only threatening lives and displacing families but also placing immense pressure on communities and small business owners. The widespread destruction is having far-reaching consequences on public health, safety and access to essential services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response to the escalating crisis, Interac Corp. has made a corporate donation to the Red Cross Canadian Wildfire Fund<\/a> which will enhance Canada\u2019s readiness and response to the escalating wildfire risks and bolster resilience. Donations may be used to address preparedness, immediate relief, and longer-term recovery for wildfire events within Canada.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Canadian Red Cross has been working hard to respond to a busy start to the wildfire season in Canada and we are grateful for Interac’s generous support of the Canadian Red Cross Wildfire Fund,\u201d said Amy Avis, Chief of Operations at the Canadian Red Cross. \u201cThe Red Cross is committed to providing vital support to people impacted by wildfires in the days, weeks, and months to come.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enabling Real-Time Relief Through Interac e-Transfer<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As governments and aid organizations work urgently to support evacuees,\u202fInterac e-Transfer\u202fis playing a vital role in delivering fast, secure, and direct financial assistance. Both the\u202fCanadian Red Cross\u202fand several\u202fprovincial governments\u202fare using the platform to distribute emergency funds in real time\u2014ensuring displaced Canadians receive the help they need without delay. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This isn\u2019t the first time Interac e-Transfer has been used to offer emergency financial relief in a crisis. During the\u202f2016 Fort McMurray wildfires<\/a>, nearly\u202f100,000 Interac e-Transfer transactions occurred over the duration of the response, demonstrating the platform\u2019s ability to scale quickly and reliably in times of need. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re proud that Interac e-Transfer is helping deliver timely financial relief to those impacted by the wildfires,\u201d said Anurag Kar, Head, Product, Interac e-Transfer, at Interac. \u201cIn moments of crisis, the ability to move money quickly and securely is essential\u2014and we\u2019re committed to supporting Canadians when it matters most.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Support Indigenous Communities<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recognizing the disproportionate impact of natural disasters on Indigenous and remote communities, Interac is also donating to True North Aid, a national organization providing emergency relief and long-term support to Indigenous populations. These funds will help address urgent needs in communities with limited access to emergency infrastructure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
